System Boiler Installation in Tilehurst

A boiler replacement is an opportunity to consider how the whole heating system works. For this project in Tilehurst, our customer had an existing combi boiler alongside a separate hot water cylinder. With stored hot water already catered for, we recommended a system boiler as a more suitable replacement.

The right boiler for the job

We planned the installation around the existing cylinder, retaining a useful part of the setup while changing the boiler to suit it. Rather than simply replacing the original appliance with another combi, we focused on providing a heating solution that made sense for the property and the way our customer used his hot water.

A Practical Change for Easier Access

Our customer also had a clear request. With the boiler installed in the loft, he wanted the filling loop positioned somewhere more convenient so that checking and topping up the system pressure would not involve a trip upstairs into the roof space. We fitted the filling loop in a downstairs cupboard, making it easier to reach whenever needed. This small but worthwhile adjustment was an important part of the installation, giving our customer more convenient access to a routine heating system task.At Nick Parris Heating Services, we look beyond the boiler itself. From choosing an appliance that works with an existing cylinder to making everyday access easier, we tailor our installations around each home and the people living in it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace a combi boiler with a system boiler?
Yes, we can change the boiler type when it better suits your home. For this Tilehurst installation, the customer already had a separate hot water cylinder, so we recommended a system boiler to work with the existing setup. We assess the cylinder, pipework and heating requirements before recommending the most suitable replacement.
Will I need a new hot water cylinder when replacing my boiler?
Not necessarily. We check the condition, suitability and capacity of your existing cylinder before recommending any changes. If it is compatible with the new boiler and meets your household’s hot water needs, we may be able to retain it.
Does the filling loop have to be next to the boiler?
The filling loop does not always need to sit beside the boiler. Depending on the system layout, we can position it somewhere more accessible. On this project, we fitted it in a downstairs cupboard so our customer could reach it without going into the loft.
How will I know when my heating system needs topping up?

Your boiler’s pressure gauge or display shows the system pressure. We explain the recommended range for your particular installation and show you how to use the filling loop safely. If the pressure keeps dropping, contact us so we can investigate the cause rather than repeatedly topping it up.
